Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. She was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor when she was six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing dance, acting and singing. As early as age ten she was involved as the lead in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie version to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been picked for these roles. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the film that was most popular of 2001. Opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later for the movie.
